Dolly, your beautiful, happy, loving energy has been a ray of light in my life since I was a girl. Thank you for sharing so much goodness with us -- your music and stories, the easy way you handle yourself. Sending my love and gratitude for YOU.
hi Dolly I am a primary teacher in New Zealand and managed to break my leg really badly at work just before our summer holidays. I am really enjoying you on Substack while I lie down recuperating.
Wishing you well this Christmas. it is hard that first Christmas without your loved one with you.
How can you not love this woman. So stratospherically talented and successful, but so down to earth. Everyone could stand to strive to be more like her.
Dolly, you are a beacon of light in these very dark times. You are a national and international treasure, and you have helped so many people. The world is better for having you in it.
Dolly, you are the best. You are reason as a Queer person I never let anyone take my faith or hope from me in my formative years. You are such an inspiration.
The most “ACCOMPLISHED” music writer in the World. Restaurateurs, Hotelier, DollyWood of theme parks, all that for her fans & their family. An incredible woman. Carl we know is proud.
Hi Dolly. Western NC girl here who has followed your career since you were singing with Porter Waggoner. You have been a joyful light in many lives that it’s wonderful having you on Substack to continue sharing that light here. Know many of us will be thinking of you during the holidays. Take care and love from a fan.
Lovely story, Dolly which reminded me of my own. As a quiet ‘always in my own dream world ’ child, I spent much time singing while on the swing in the backyard. One day, my older sister’s ballet teacher heard me. She was preparing a concert in which my sister was performing. Of course we all attended the concert and to this day I remember the ballet teacher beckoning my little 4 year old self to come up on the stage to sing for the audience. I don’t remember the journey from my seat in the audience to standing on that stage but I do remember singing my heart out to said audience. That was my first time singing on stage, but not my last. 😊 Thank you Dolly for bringing back this memory.
I wish I could have played with you when we were kids, Dolly. We would have had so much fun! Thanks for so much joy. Keep singing, and we'll keep singing along.
oh, I had gone to the store today, a lady was coming in as I was leaving. she held the door open for me. as I stepped out I noticed her T-shirt. guess who was on it?
That's right, it was you. I told her oh I love that tshirt. ❤️
Dolly I loved that story about your childhood time that story took me back to my childhood when my siblings and I would roam the forests on our grandparents fields. Thanks for being a real person.... Rick
Delightful. I can see these moments clearly. Full of simple joy and love for life. Running with painted bare-feet up dusty paths. Had a few of my own. Spittin’ pomegranate seeds from the back stoop off the kitchen. Dancing like a native gypsy under the shelter of a massive tree. Gathering a minuscule nest egg with every golf ball sold back to the screwballs on the golf course. Three different places. Three specific growing grounds.

We hope and Pray, without dismay,
This little lady on her way,
With us all, though not small,
But Grand Dam the Queen would say of all.
